20 Things Only True Californians Know

20 Things Only True Californians Know

20 Things Only True Californians Know

1. You don’t call California, “Cali”. If you hear someone say, “Cali”, they’re a tourist. It’s “California”. Always.

2. Traffic. If anyone understands traffic, it’s true Californians. If you don’t live in California and you think you’re “stuck in traffic”, thank your lucky stars. Whatever your traffic is pales in comparison to California traffic. Distance isn’t calculated in miles, it is calculated in minutes (or hours). 5 miles means absolutely nothing when it takes you an hour to get there!

3. Shortcuts and backroads are second nature. True Californians have a variety of shortcuts at their disposal – because traffic. Sometimes, you just have to improvise, and with California traffic, improvising means shortcuts.

4. Earthquakes. What’s the big deal anyways? True Californians don’t make a big fuss when the earth beneath them starts to sway. If it’s strong enough, they’ll simply move calmly under a desk, table or doorway and carry on once it has stopped. Don’t believe us? Compare an east coaster’s reaction to an earthquake with a Californian’s reaction to an earthquake. Yeah.

5. The dialect. Only true Californians truly understand the west coast dialect. That wave was hella tight brah. Get it?

6. “Hella” is your go-to word for making your point even more valid.

7. Avocado on everything! You can totally make a vegan ice cream with avocado. And cakes. And pasta sauce. Avocado goes well on basically everything.

8. In-n-Out is life. Really. It’s the fast food gem of California.

9. Pack accordingly. There are so many different regions and climates in California – each with its own terrain and attractions. You literally never need to leave the state to change up your scenery. Snow here, desert there, beach to our right. Pack appropriately.

10. Not everyone lives in a bikini on the coastline. The rest of the world thinks so, but true Californians know this to be myth.

11. Sushi is up there right next to In-n-Out. It’s life too. Kids love it. Adults love it. It’s just an all-around enjoyed dish amongst true Californians.

12. Disneyland or Disney World? Is that really a question? Ask a true Californian and they’ll say Disneyland. Hands-down.

13. Golden State Warriors are now better than the Lakers

14. Yoga – vinyasa, hot, whatever. True Californians can’t get enough of it.

15. The scenic routes. The Pacific Coast Highway is GORGEOUS but best suited for a leisurely drive.

16. It’s better to be chill than hot under the collar. True Californians understand the impact of stress on the body. Overall, they’re pretty chill. Slow and steady they move forward. It’s that California Zen.

17. Golden state mourning. When true Californians leave, they miss California like crazy!

18. Tamales are the best ethnic food to have at the dinner table on Christmas.

19. Fish tacos. The best tacos, are fish tacos.

20. Celebrities are neighbors, not strangers. Quit staring at our friends!

First Look At Disneyland's STAR WARS LAND!! (it's incredible)

First Look At Disneyland's STAR WARS LAND!! (it's incredible)

Feast your eyes on these scaled down models of the new Star Wars Land

The models below were featured at the 2017 D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif, showing bite size versions of two new attractions, as well as the rugged terrain filled with distressed buildings, a restaurant that resembles the Mos Eisley cantina, X-Wings and of course, a replica of the heroic Millennium Falcon.

The 14-acre addition to the park is based on a never-before-seen planet, according to a Disney insiders. Two new rides are being debuted-- the first one gives visitors a chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon, and the second puts the rider in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

“This is the most ambitious land we’ve built to date,” chairman of Disney’s parks division Bob Chapek said during a recent interview. Each land costing over 1 BILLION to be built.

Florida & Anaheim, CA will both be receiving their own Star Wars Land - both are expected to open by 2019.

Although attendance across all Disney parks are down this year, we have a feeling that will all change as soon as these highly anticipated park additions open in 2019. And you can probably bet that prices will continue to go up as they do every year. But will that stop you from going?

Some prefer ambient lighting, some prefer shimmering bright lights. This display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, located in the BP Pavilion, takes romantic lighting to a whole other realm. Imagine it; the two of you hand in hand, admiring the artistry and strolling beneath the night’s star littered sky after a memorable one-on-one. When the time comes, you’re more than likely going to be feeling butterflies- the nervous kind. Then again, you’re a thrill seeker, so maybe you’re not. We digress. If you do however happen to be feeling a bit anxious, blame it on the coasters. If you’ve got iron clad self-esteem (go you!) and nerves of steel, you’ll get to hold your love tight while laughing and reveling in the night life and thrill rides. Take a stroll to the end of the pier and do your thing, or if you’re feeling particularly uninhibited take a ride to the top of the ferris wheel and watch her heart skip a beat when you pull out that beautiful symbol of your love and ask her to be your wife. You’re welcome.
